About the project
Some background:
The city as an art museum
With the growing popularity of different types of street art, many major cities all over the world became de-facto new kinds of museums, with artworks in plain sight.
People are keen on knowing more and finding new art.
The problem:
No context &
information
Unlike in the traditional museums, street art in most cases does not come with an information plaque, artist name, etc.
The main way to learn about street art is to join guided tours, which are not always available and have a predefined time frame.
Pain points
01
No information
The occasional tourist/local resident that wants to know more about a specific artwork, has almost no way to find out on the spot.
02
No recognition or support for the artists
The street artists are seldom compensated or given any official recognition.
03
The guided tours
Many great artworks are located in residential areas.
The guided tours are often a nuisance to the local residents.
Main Competitors
01
The guided tours
The tours are the main way to find new art and to get information about existing pieces.
02
Online travel guides
The online travel guides can point you to the most interesting neighborhoods but usually will not offer information about specific artworks.
The solution
Explore street art
anywhere, anytime
Take a picture of any street art you see, to learn its story.
It’s almost magic!
Plan a tour around the most interesting neighborhoods using the suggested routes, or check out some new artwork on the main feed.
Business
opportunities
Local municipalities:
Funding to promote tourism
It is in the best interests of major city municipalities to promote tourism in their cities.
By funding this app, they will be able to offer a new way to discover local art and support local artists.
Artists:
Showcase and get support
The artists who will collaborate with the app will be able to promote their own galleries, workshops, etc., as well as to get actual funds via "Patreon" (from which they will pay back a pre-defined percentage).
Additional app features
Artist's shops &
moderators section
Artists will be able to create their own virtual shops within the app, to have yet another way of income.
Moderators will be able to add artworks & descriptions and review user inputs.

Home screen
The main functionality on the home screen is the camera button, which invites the user to take a picture of any street art.
In addition, the users can see their location on the map for easy navigation, as well as some artworks nearby.
The camera
The camera acts as a kind of street art "Shazam" - the user takes a picture and the app searches for relevant information in its database.
The AR option provides the users an option to see some motion in the artwork and feel as if it's "coming to life. (AR variations for artworks will be provided by the artists).

Artwork info
Each info card has a set of reactions, to keep the information up to date, and enables the user to send in images & comments.
The user can share the artwork, like it, or go to the artist profile.

Artist's profile
Each artist listed in the app will have their own profile, with links to their social media/website and their bio.
The 2 main CTAs are to benefit the artists:
support on "Patreon" and scheduling studio visits/workshops (whatever is applicable).
In addition, you can see a gallery of that artist's works, and navigate to see them.

Suggested routes
Users can get to the Suggested routes screen in two ways:
- By tapping the map on the home screen
- Via the "Routes" button in the bottom navigation
The displayed list of routes is based on the user's current location, but a different city can be selected from the top navigation.

Feed & more
On the feed screen, users can find featured artworks, upcoming community events, themed collections, and more.
The hamburger menu on the top left side opens an additional menu, for the secondary level actions.
